This is the place that our learners come to for support. This is YOUR space!

We fill this space with any resources or tools that we feel will help you in your course, career and beyond. The content that you find here is content that we believe is important for you to succeed confidently, but isn't likely to be covered within your course content (with the odd exception 😉).

How are our courses set up?

Most courses are a blend of in-person and online. Attendance at one of our approved centres is once or twice a week to allow you time to practice, study, or work between sessions. Some courses may have longer periods between sessions. You will be given access to resources online so that you can revise, review, or study whenever is convenient for you between your sessions. You will also be given access to an online portfolio so that you can see your progress throughout your course 

Assessments and exams are scheduled within your course time where possible, and practical treatments are carried out on live clients who are aware of your training status. Your tutor is with you throughout. This will give you excellent experience that you can use towards your new career. Once all evidence is complete, your portfolio will go through some quality checks before your certificate is released.

We aim to promote these values, and aim to demonstrate how each individual can interpret this into their career.

Who can join our courses?

Our courses are for everyone aged 19 and above. We have funding available for people on Universal Credit, with a low income. We also have access to funding for anyone over 19 who has not competed a level 2 qualification (or above) in the past. We have access to Advanced Learner Loans, suitable for anyone on a Level 3 or 4 qualification, or apprenticeships for those who are looking to work at the same time as they train. 

We can also offer apprenticeships for anyone aged 16 and above in hairdressing and beauty therapy standards

What support is available? 

We understand that all learners have different needs, and our small classes (2-8 people on average) allow us to offer personalised support. We can help to adjust your deadlines or offer support where required. 

All learners will undertake an English and Maths assessment, along with agreeing an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) at the start of the course. This is so that we can help you achieve, and meet your needs - this is not an entry test! 

We also have a dedicated Safeguarding team who can help if you have any personal, social or safety concerns whilst working with us. 

The important thing is that you speak with one of our team about your concerns! We are able, and happy to help! 

Who is funding your qualification? 

The Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has funded your training programme. They may contact you to ask you about how you are enjoying your course. This does also apply to self-funded learners through Student loans. STC works with different lead providers to attain funding from the Education & Skills Funding Agency, this means you may see different company logos on your paperwork and you will be told at induction which lead provider is being used.
